What a way to start a blog post about wine! OK I guess I better get to the point. I just got a Chateau Lafite Rothschild for $106. Can you believe that!? OK, I know, you want to know what year… 1999. A 1999 of the most coveted Bordeaux on the planet for $106.
I know, you wine snobs out there are turning your noses up and regurgitating Parkerisms like, “…completely overshadowed by the 2000 and 2005 vintages…” but this wine should not be overlooked!
This wine received 95 points by Parker, 92 points by Tanzer and 95 points by Wine Spectator. This is a serious Bordeaux for wine lovers. First, there is the panache of owning a Chateau Lafite Rothschild. It’s like saying you own a Rolls Royce. Sure, the new red Ferrari is great, but a Rolls is a Rolls and always will be until the end of time.
This vintage routinely fetches $1,000 or more. So I am already looking at a 1,000% return on investment should I decide to sell it. Bordeaux’s and particularly this Chateau are known for exceptional structure and exquisite aging. I’ll be laying this one down for a good while.
